Street Man Dies After Accident on Bel Air Bypass

The ramp reopened at about 4:45 p.m.

UPDATE (10:20 p.m.)—A 65-year-old Street man died in a one-vehicle accident that closed the southbound on-ramp of Maryland Route 24 at the Bel Air Bypass on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Leroy Jackson, 65, was driving a 1990 Ford Ranger northbound on the Bypass when the vehicle crossed the southbound lane and went off the roadway into a tree.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, and it is unknown what caused the vehicle to cross traffic. There were no other injuries reported.

Police were on the scene shortly after 2 p.m. and the ramp was reopened around 4:45 p.m., according to a Maryland State Police spokeswoman. The Bypass was not closed.
