Body Found on Cecil Side of Susquehanna River

Officers from the Maryland State Police North East Barrack are investigating the incident.

A Port Deposit man who apparently committed suicide was pulled from the rocks on the Cecil County side of the Susquehanna River on Sunday.

The Water Witch Fire Company responded to the scene Sunday afternoon and found Andrew J. Hall, 45, on the rocky shore of the river, according to Chief Wayne Tome Sr.

“He was obviously deceased. He had been there for a while,” said Tome, who added that the body was found near the Mount Zoar boat ramp in Port Deposit in Cecil County.

Tome said the fire company turned the investigation over to the Maryland State Police North East Barrack. A dispatcher for the barrack confirmed officers from that office are investigating the incident.

Greg Shipley, spokesman for Maryland State Police, said North East barrack officers are investigating Hall’s death as an apparent suicide. Police received a call about the body near 1 p.m. Sunday, Shipley said.

“We‘re not certain how long the body had been there but it’s believed to had been there less than a day,” he said. “He had been seen alive Saturday afternoon.”

A dispatcher for the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack said they are not involved in the incident.
