More Jesse Bane Hug a Thugs.
Mildred M. Samy October 12, 2011 at 04:01 PM
I wish you would stop saying that. This has nothing to do with Jesse. It has to do with YOU and YOUR COMMUNITY. It has to do with your expectation that this rise in crime is the total responsibility of the police. Try taking an active part of your community and forcing the criminal elements to leave your communities. Try it is; you may very well see a DIFFERENCE when you go out there and say "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. We made them move out once; and WE CAN DO IT AGAIN. Instead, this time, we must remain vigilante about keeping them OUT.
Ed Jr. October 12, 2011 at 05:19 PM
Mildred - "Nothing to do with Jesse". If you believe that Sheriff Jesse Bane has nothing to do with detering crime than you have bought into Jesse Bane's nonsense. Jesse Bane was quoted as saying that he has no control over crime, yet he takes credit for results when they improve and distances himself when crime increases. Jesse Bane is in control of $65 million budget. Jesse Bane is in control of deploying patrols. However, Jesse's priorities are not rocking the boat, to coddle deputies union presidents Gividen and Visnaw, keeping corrupt officers like Mark Forwood paid and Bane's number one priority, "reelected". I do play an active part in the Community. Do you?

Ed, you give some reasons not to like Sheriff Bane, which is either good or false information; I don't know which. If you don't like Mr. Bane that your right and of course you are welcome to not vote for him in the next election. I might do the same. But to imply he had something to do with this crime is irresponsible. Mr. Bane does not fit the description of either individual in the report, is case you did not read the article. If Mr. Bane could prevent all crimes like this he would because it is in his and the communities best interest. And please get off of your high horse regarding office politics. The office of Sheriff in Harford County IS a political office and as long as it is it will foster political loyalties and require the office holders to keep an eye on the electorate.

Agreed! It's seems Ed Jr. has a personal issue with the sheriff and more from a political standpoint. His remarks makes one wonder does he work in the dept, have issues because the sheriff is a democrat? Who the hell knows, but there are some folks who are nothing but closed minded and angry! In Ed Jr's case I think he is both and all the responding to his "attack" remarks will do nothing but give him the feeling he is actually accomplishing something

If you look at Ed Jr.'s comment history the first thing you will notice is his criticism of Bane in the comments of almost every article regarding crime, car accidents, and the like. You will also notice that he is indeed conservative ("thank goodness for the Tea Party"). Politics and motivation aside, it is safe to say that murders, robberies, and car accidents will still occur, even without the "hug a thug liberals" in the Sheriff's Office.
Nick October 13, 2011 at 05:41 PM
I'm confused as to why being a conservative or a liberal has anything to do with crime. I can't see anyone wanting crime to increase regardless of political affiliation. Perhaps the difference is in the methodology employed to deal with crime, but frankly I think that the overall goal of safer communities and roads would be the same regardless of party.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Jb Look, some of Jesse Bane’s own deputies quote Jesse’s Hug a Thug programs. Of course, Jesse didn’t have any explicit involvement in the Joppa heist. Do you really convey that from my remarks? Jesse Bane does have a direct impact in overall crime levels/statistics in our County. Jesse Bane’s policy of displacing crime from one part of the County to other parts of the County impact our communities. The following are factual and can be researched if you care to do so. Fact: Jesse Bane received material financial and personal support from the Deputies Union for election purposes. The Union was Bane’s largest financial supporter and many deputies worked polling stations during the election. It is public record. Fact: Jesse Bane carried Mark Forwood at taxpayer expense and failed to investigate Forwood’s improprieties. Fact: The Sheriff’s budget is approximately $65 million. Fact: Jesse Bane manages the Sheriff’s department and deploys deputies. Fact: Jesse Bane has increased the number of special projects and has essentially reduced the number available deputies to “patrol”. What high horse is that jb? Bane is a politician and needs to be held accountable especially considering his very questionable handling of the Forwood situation and his close relationship with the Union. Thank goodness for media outlets like this since you will never see real investigative journalism in the Aegis or Sunpaper.

Andy Eisner, Hey pal, I’m an independent and support Mary Lisanti. Closed minded? Tell me which facts you disagree with and convince me otherwise. What are the attack remarks, “Hug a Thug”. Give me a break, the term was coined by Bane’s department. Angry no, flabbergasted yes that the Sunpaper and Aegis haven’t done their job investigating Bane’s handling of the Forwood matter.
Ed Jr. October 13, 2011 at 10:27 PM
Nick, Agree completely that we all want to see crime decrease. Unfortuantely, politicians both republican and democratic, have decreased our ability to do so on several fronts. Our legal system seems to favor criminals rights over victims rights. Sentences are too lenient. Politicians are in bed with public unions to get reelcted at taxpayer expense. We are paying more and getting less quality police work because of public unions.
Megan October 13, 2011 at 11:21 PM
All for Bane!!! But regardless he has nothing to do with these punk losers acting just plain dumb and childish sheesh if you need booze that bad get a job and check yourself into rehab
