Medicap Burglary Suspect Arrested

Christopher Cyle Locke was on probation for a prior burglary of Boyd & Fulford Drugs.

The has arrested a 21-year-old Abingdon man and charged him with the May 30 burglary of Medicap pharmacy, said Chief of Police Leo Matrangola.

Christopher Cyle Locke of the unit block of Valiant Drive has been charged with one count each of second- and fourth-degree burglary, theft between $10,000 and $100,000 and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $500. All four charges are related to the Medicap incident, Matrangola said. The pharmacy is in the 600 block of South Atwood Road.

Locke, who was arrested at his home Thursday, is accused of stealing about $16,000 worth of Diazepam, Morphine Sulfate, Oxycotin and Oxycodone tablets from Medicap.  

Locke pleaded guilty Feb. 1 to a second-degree burglary charge related to a burglary of Boyd & Fulford on Aug. 31, 2010. He was sentenced to five years in prison—all of which were suspended—and put on three years of probation. A pair of fourth-degree burglary charges and one charge each of theft between $1,000 and $10,000 and malicious destruction of property more than $500 were dropped.
