1 Bel Air Resident Died, 3 Hospitalized in Accident

UPDATE (5:14 p.m.)—A Bel Air woman died in this morning's accident on Maryland Route 543 in front of the  near the intersection of Foxborough Drive.

Carolyn Dicocco, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in a 2010 Lexus that was being driven south on Route 543 by her husband. Nicole Ashley Albers, 27, also of Bel Air, struck the Lexus "head-on" while driving north in a 2002 Chrysler 300M, according to a release from Maryland State Police.

Dicocco's husband, Albert, 65, was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center by a ambulance. Albert Dicocco has since been discharged from the hospital.

Albers and Alycia Hoffman, a 23-year-old Bel Air resident who was a passenger in the Chrysler, were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma by medevac. They are both in "fair" condition, according to police.

Maryland Route 543, reopened shortly after 4 p.m., was closed for about five hours. The incident is still under investigation.

One "elderly" female has died in a two-vehicle accident on Maryland Route 543 in front of the at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Two medevac vehicles transported two patients, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. He said "multiple rescues to extricate victims" were being performed.

Two patients were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma with "serious injuries" and a third was driven to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Gardiner said. The three patients being transported to hospitals were all women in their mid-30s.

One firefighter was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for "heat issues." Five ambulances responded to the scene.

"[The] road is closed and will be for several hours," Gardiner said.
