Harford County Prays for Officials, From Obama to Carey

Harford County residents and officials participated in Thursday's National Day of Prayer.

The Rev. Craig McLaughlin led Harford County's National Day of Prayer event in front of the Courtland Street shortly after noon Thursday.

McLaughlin and other ministers, along with local citizens, prayed for officials ranging from to Town of , in addition to the people they serve.

"From our commander in chief to the poorest among us; Lord, God, we lift this nation to you," McLaughlin said during a group prayer.

Participants sang The Star Spangled Banner to cap the event.

State delegates Susan McComas and Glen Glass and Town Administrator Chris Schlehr were in attendance.

"I think it's an opportunity to give thanks to God for our nation," Schlehr said after the event. "It's a small reminder to our nation that we've been so blessed."

McLaughlin, of , said prayer has no political bias.

"This is completely nonpartisan," he said after the event. "Just prayer for the whole nation, and particularly our elected officials."

A Global Day of Prayer celebration will be held at Mountain Christian Church from 3–5 p.m. June 12.
