$20K Vehicle, $15K Computer Server Purchases Approved

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved three items on the agenda Monday night.

7:50 p.m. No commissioner spoke during the commissioners comments. The meeting is adjourned.

7:49 p.m. French Poole of Giles Street is now speaking. He is concerned about left turns from Best Buy onto Boulton Road. Robertson said the thermal plastic lane markers were taken out to pave the road, but will be replaced.

7:47 p.m. Einhorn also asked about a traffic light at English Country Manor, which the town has previously said would be too expensive to purchase. Einhorn said he understands that, but would still have liked to see a light for the area.

He also asked about a camera that is expected to be mounted in the same area, which would activate the light at Boulton Street and Gateway Drive during peak traffic hours.

Town Administrator Chris Schlehr said the town plans to do it "soon." Director of Public Works Randy Robertson said the pole will be erected by "this week or next week" and that before Thanksgiving it will be working.

7:45 p.m. Phil Einhorn, who lives in English Country Manor, is speaking during public comment. He is complaining about the signs along Harford County roads.

Mayor David Carey responded that the town did not have the right to remove signs on state roads, but as of Saturday, the town is allowed to do so.

Repeat offenders could be fined $25 per sign.

7:42 p.m. The commissioners and town officials are discussing public announcements, which are listed on the agenda.

7:40 p.m. The board unanimously approved the purchase of a 2008 Dell server for a little less than $15,000, which is the amount that was budgeted for fiscal year 2012.

7:39 p.m. The town is hearing a proposal on the purchase of a new Dell computer server for Town Hall. The town last year after a .

7:37 p.m. The commissioners unanimously approved a proposal presented by Chief of Police Leo Matrangola for a $20,355 purchase of a 2012 Ford Escape 4X4 from Apple Ford in Columbia. The will use the vehicle.

7:33 p.m. About $262,000 in financing has been approved for the town to finance vehicle and equipment purchases. The commissioners approved the vote 5–0.

Director of Finance Lisa Moody said all the money will be drawn out of the account by June 30, 2012. The town will earn interest on the account until its drawn out, though it's "not much worth talking about," Moody said. Probably less than 0.25 percent.

TD Equipment Finance Inc. was awarded the bid among four competitors. There is no early payoff penalty in the agreement, as noted by Commissioner Terence Hanley.
