Yoakum's Message: 'One Person, One Flag'

Bel Air celebrated Flag Day in Shamrock Park on Saturday.

The message from retired Army Sgt. Maj. Frank Yoakum was simple: one person, one flag.

Yoakum spoke to a crowd of a few hundred Saturday in for the Town of Bel Air's annual Flag Day celebration.

"What about you? Are you the one person who can fly one flag and spread the message of freedom?" Yoakum asked. "Will somebody like me, in a place like this, on an occasion like today, remember a person like you?"

The held its annual celebration 10 days before the traditional June 14 observance so that the band and chorus could participate.
