HCC Profiles: Lynn and Webb Named All-Americans

Erin Lynn and Holly Webb were recently honored as All-Americans.

students Holly Webb and Erin Lynn were recently named NJCAA women's lacrosse All-Americans.

"Only 16 women's lacrosse players are named All-American for the NJCAA," coach Lindsey Gormley wrote in an email. "It is a great honor for Erin and Holly and both women deserve the accolades. They showed leadership, dedication and determination throughout the entire season, and it is nice to see their hard work recognized by the NJCAA."

Webb, who has been playing lacrosse since she was in the fourth grade, along with soccer and field hockey, played attack. She started in all 12 games, with an average of 2.67 goals and 1 assist per game.

"This award means so much to me because I have fought to prove everyone wrong that I can do what I set my heart out to do in lacrosse," Webb stated. "I just didn't know it would go this far."

After earning her associate’s degree in Science Lab Technology from HCC this summer, Webb will transfer to Slippery Rock University where she will study public health.

“I plan on playing at Slippery Rock,” Webb said. “But everyone ends at the college level. I am going to focus on my studies and maybe eventually coach a high school [lacrosse] team.”

For Erin Lynn, this is her second All-American recognition.

"I received First-Team NJCAA All-American for women's soccer in the fall of 2010," Lynn wrote in an email. "Playing soccer, I broke the HCC school record, totaling 102 points in two years (37 goals and 28 assists). This is only my second year playing lacrosse so I was really excited to receive this award."

Lynn played defense for the women's lacrosse team, averaging 1.25 goals per game. She also notched three assists, 29 caused turnovers and 33 ground balls.

Although she was recognized for her outstanding work as a lacrosse player, Lynn will go on to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on a full scholarship for soccer.

Perhaps athletic achievement is in the genes. Lynn was pleasantly surprised to find out her father, who started her in soccer at age 4, was also named All-American while at CCBC.

As for future plans, Lynn said that she would like to play with the women's professional league and "maybe the national team, if I'm good enough."
