Basketball Roundup: Patterson Mill, Fallston Advance to Regional Semifinals

All five local boys public school teams were in action Tuesday.

Boys

OWINGS MILLS 92 Harford Tech 51—MPSSAA 1A Quarterfinals

Tyson Smith netted a game-high 24 points and fellow junior Kyle Thomas added 15 more as the No. 1 seeded Eagles advanced to the 1A North Region Semifinals, throttling visiting Harford Tech.

The Cobras were led by senior guard Dre Jones, who tallied all of his team-high 15 points in the first half and whose sharpshooting from the outside allowed Harford Tech to remain within a reasonable distance, heading into break down, 42-26.

PATTERSON MILL 68 Loch Raven 53—MPSSAA 1A Quarterfinals

Reggie Daniels and Garett Burkhead led the Huskies with 15 points. J.J. Butler added nine.

FALLSTON 66 Bel Air 59—MPSSAA 2A Quarterfinals

Garrett Fender led the hosts with 16 points while Tyler Smith added 13 for the Cougars. Grant Kelly and Connor Wolf had 12 points each.

Dezmon Hall led all scorers with 20 points while Cavin Murray added 14 for the Bobcats.

PATAPSCO 61 C. Milton Wright 60—MPSSAA 3A Quarterfinals

Patapsco hit one of two free throws with less than four seconds remaining to take a one-point lead to defeat visiting C. Milton Wright. Deric Bryant led the Mustangs with 18 points while Chris Bays added 15 points. Kevin Dorsey added 14 points for the visitors and Bryce Monroe had 11.

Aberdeen 55 NORTH HARFORD 43—MPSSAA 3A Quarterfinals

Tyler Campbell led the Hawks with 11 points while Brandon Thorn added nine. Gerrae Williams led Aberdeen with 22 points while Tavon Sadler scored 14 points.

The Eagles led 27–14 at the half.

Sunday

John Carroll 56 Mount St. Joseph 52—BCL Semifinals at Loyola University

Senior scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Patriots to a Baltimore Catholic League championship appearance in their first year in the league. Classmate Ronald Scott added 15.

Phil Booth had a game-high 23 points for the Gaels while Kameron Williams scored 12.

The Patriots face St. Frances at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the league championship in what will be the fourth matchup of the season for the teams.

Friday

Harford Tech 71 PERRYVILLE 66—MPSSAA 1A First Round

Isaiah Gills led the visitors with 20 points and 17 rebounds while Dre Jones had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Andy Poulton 11 points and 10 rebounds. Telvonne Lambert added 12 point for the Cobras.

BEL AIR 64 Rising Sun 55—MPSSAA 2A First Round

The Bobcats led 37–23 at the half and never let the Tigers get closer than seven points the rest of the way. Dezmon Hall scored 28 points and added five assists  while Cavin Murray added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Andre Moore led Rising Sun with 17 points while Greg Allen added 16.

C. Milton Wright 54 TOWSON 47—MPSSAA 3A First Round

Trailing by three at halftime, the Mustangs put away Towson late behind Bryce Monroe's game-high 15 points. Chris Bays added 11 for the Mustangs.
